Honors Classes
Three ways a student can qualify to take an Honors class in 9th grade:
Entering Honors Classes:
1.) Math: Students who have “ADVANCED” scores on their 7th grade CST in Math and an A or B at Sem. 1 in Math qualify for an Honors Math class in 9th grade.
2.) English: Students who have “ADVANCED” scores on their 7th grade CST in ELA and an A or B at Sem. 1 in English qualify for an Honors English Class in 9th grade
3.) Science: Students who have “ADVANCED” scores on their 7th grade CST in Math AND ELA and an A or B at Sem. 1 in Science qualify for Honors Biology in 9th grade. (Star Science Scores not considered.)
OR
1.) Math: Students who have earned A’s in their math class for 1st and 2nd semester of 7th grade and 1st semester of 8th grade qualify for an Honors Math class in 9th grade. (STAR scores are not a factor)
2.) English: Students who have earned A’s in their English class for 1st and 2nd Semester of 7th grade and 1st semester of 8th grade qualify for Honors English in 9th grade. (STAR scores are not a factor)
3.) Science: Students who have earned A’s in their Science class for 1st and 2nd semester of 7th grade and 1st semester of 8th grade qualify to take Honors Biology in 9th grade. (STAR scores are not a factor)
OR
1.) Student is GATE identified.

For further reference, please refer to the chart with respect to how students can qualify for honors courses. This revised policy will begin with the academic school year 2011-2012.
